How to Cleanse with Farm 2 Farmacy Whole Food Juices
Cleansing is a powerful experience, one that can change the way you think/feel about food and how consuming all raw plants for just a few days can help improve your life.
Our whole food juice cleanse was created to help your body get a rest from digestion of heavy foods and allow it to "reboot" itself. Each juice is made with the whole plant, meaning we are not pressing out the juice and discarding the insoluble fiber. Rather, we blend our juices and keep the entire plant in the juice, skin and all. Leaving the fiber in helps maintain blood sugar levels and further supports a cleaner gut.
Drinking just juice, water and herbal teas for 3 or more days straight, might not be the easiest thing you have done, though by the end of the cleanse, you will likely conclude it was worth it. You body is being nourished and you will not be starving yourself, so the real challenge is in the mind. Overcoming this will encourage your building of an inner strength that you can stop eating certain foods that are not serving your health (and really anything else you want to do, too!)
There might be some annoying detox symptoms like light headaches (especially on day 2), moodiness, or even a heavy coat on the tongue. These are normal byproducts of boosting your bodies ability to clean itself out and normally fade away by day 3.
ALWAYS consult your doctor before starting any cleanse / fast. We cannot be held responsible for individual medical needs while cleansing. For most normally healthy people, juice cleanses are a great option for rejuvenation. For people on medication or seeing a doctor for a specific health need, cleansing might not be appropriate. Breastfeeding and pregnant women should never cleanse/fast.
In addition, our juices are made fresh and are NOT pasteurized. These juices need to be consumed by the end of day 4 from the day of pick up and must stay fully refrigerated when not being consumed.
How to consume your cleanse:
In each cleanse, you will have at least 3 green juices and 3 other juices, ranging from yellow, orange, red or purple.
Start your day with a glass of water, followed by a green juice. When you begin to feel hungry again, usually within 2-3 hours, drink a red, orange, yellow or purple juice, followed by a glass of water. When hunger returns, drink the next green juice, followed by a glass of water and switch back and forth between green and other colors, with a glass of water after, until your 6 juices are done for the day.
If you find yourself full after 4 or 5 juices, do not force yourself to finish all 6 juices. Save them for the next day (not beyond day 4 from picking them up) or offer them to a family member.
Feel free to drink as much water as you desire throughout the day and include any herbal teas in between juices if you want as well.
Coming off your cleanse
Coming off your cleanse should be handled with care and awareness. Your digestive system has taken a major break from breaking down solid foods and will need a transition period to return to its "normal" functions.
Start your 1st day post cleanse with water and raw foods/juice only or easy to digest broths. If eating, make sure you chew your food really well before swallowing and avoid all animal products, wheat, coffee and processed foods (that you did not process yourself).
For lunch, try eating a nice salad and some lightly cooked vegetables and by dinner, you can include some of your favorite foods though still stay away from overly processed foods, dairy and any heavier meats.
After this 1st dinner post cleanse, your body should be well adjusted to digesting solids again and you should be fine eating as you please (though don't forget to chew all your food well for easier digestion!) You will likely feel more drawn to healthier whole foods post cleanse and might want to continue to juice regularly and consume more raw foods. This is the REAL goal of the cleanse. While a 3+ day break from food is a great jumpstart to a healthier lifestyle, its the daily choices after the cleanse that will really make the difference.
